Unrelated to an earlier Brass Rail located at 1739 7th St., NW (owner Yvonne Simkins and manager Charles H. Nelson), site of a notorious 1948 shooting that resulted in a well-publicized court case involving gambling and corruption. This location was subsequently the Ebony Grill (by 1953).
