“The club, located on the ground floor of the Charles Hotel, has long been a mecca for Dixieland and modern music fans and has seen a succession of good musicians come and go including groups headed by local luminaries Willis Conover and Bill Mayhugh.” (WP 7/19/54 p.19)
“The club itself is a jazz fan’s haven – low ceilings, smoke-filled, and dimly lit. The music blasts out and the sessions are 20 minutes on the bandstand and five off – a real jazz concession.” (WP 7/19/54 p.19)

Hello Gwen:
My Grandad was Booker Coleman! Do you remember the album where I believe your Dad is featured on the front? Would be great to know if you had more images you could share? Thanks, Kellye Jackson (daughter of Claudette Coleman Jackson).
