Byrd, Joe

Bassist, guitarist, and vocalist. Born Gene Herbert Byrd on May 21, 1933, in Chuckatuck, Virginia; died March 6, 2012 in Annapolis, Maryland.

Youngest brother of Charlie Byrd. Attended Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland.

Joined Charlie Byrd Trio full time in 1963. Also a member of Great Guitars. Following his brother’s death in 1999, Byrd continued with his own groups.
